 		 Literally hundreds of pacific blue marlin are tagged and released in Kona tournaments each year.  In many tournaments, the minimum qualifying weight of a captured pacific blue marlin is 300 pounds or greater.  Points are given for each tagged marlin, adding to a team's total score.
Marlin are excellent eating and may be prepared many ways, so marlin brought to the scale do not go to waste.  However, we in the Kona fishing community want to preserve our quality of fishing for future generations, so conservation is a priority.
